With David Beckham ruled out of the World Cup through injury, I decided to take a look for a David Beckham free kick game as I seemed to remember playing one in the past. Sure enough, a ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ game does indeed exist, and can be found online at Juggernart.com.

I had a few goes myself and came up with a top score of 43.043 seconds. Sadly there won’t be any Beckham freekick’s at the 2010 World Cup, hopefully though the England squad will still do the LA Galaxy man proud in his absence and progress to the latter stages of the competition.

As a long time fan of the Sports Interactive series, I always look forward to playing the latest Football Manager games when released. Football Manager 2010 was no different, and when the FM2010 Demo was released I was very excited to start playing as my team of choice, Oxford United. It didn’t take me too long at all to get to January in the game, and having now started a new demo game as Manchester City; I feel that the time has come to provide my first thoughts on Football Manager 2010.

The first thing that strikes you about Football Manager 2010 when you start playing is the new interface. For a number of years now the Football Manager look has remained pretty consistent, the interface has now been completely revamped however and looks very impressive for it. I must admit that I had got very used to the old interface, and when I first played FM2010 the new look therefore came as quite a shock; it didn’t take me long to get used to the new interface however, and I do in fact feel now that it has been improved, and Sports Interactive has made the game even stronger in this area.

When you sign a new player in FM2010 you can now choose to hold a press conference, and this is a very cool feature to have been added to the game. Each year Sports Interactive just keeps making the game better, and this is definitely one of the new features that I’ve been incredibly impressed with having played the demo.

The 3D match engine looks to have been improved, and in addition to this, crowds have been added to enhance the game’s realism. One thing I have picked up on about the FM2010 Demo crowds is that when managing Oxford United none of the fans wore yellow shirts, and yet managing Manchester City there are plenty of sky blue shirts in the crowd (and plenty of shirts in the crowd for the opposition side also). Not really sure why the Oxford fans don’t wear shirts and yet fans from the Football League do but there you go; maybe this is something that will be resolved for when the full game is released. It would also be a nice touch if every in-game stadium was an accurate representation of the real life stadium, one step at a time though I guess, and I suppose it’s not too bad a situation when your home ground is given four sides rather than its real number of three.

There are some very interesting new features with Football Manager 2010, small tweaks that have made my favourite football management sim even greater, and once again Sports Interactive appears to have put together a very impressive game. It’s easy to shout touchline instructions in the middle of a match, the game seems more fun than ever to play, and overall here I definitely feel that some very positive tweaks and changes have occurred.

The initial signs are strong with Football Manager 2010, and I now can’t wait to play the full-game when it’s released. Football Manager 2010 is a game that I can most definitely see myself spending many happy hours playing over the coming weeks and months.

Sports Interactive has always dominated the market when it comes to football managements sims; Eidos is hoping to provide some serious competiton for its bitter rival this year however, and is trying out a new tactic of letting people name their price when ordering Championship Manager 10.

Take a trip to the Championship Manager Store and you can pre-order the game right now for a penny; there’s also a £2.50 transaction fee, so you’ll technically be paying £2.51 for the title, even still you’ll be getting an absolute bargain however, and will be able to download your copy of Championship Manager 10 from midnight on September 11th.

Eidos has played a very clever game in announcing this name your price model for Championship Manager 10, and the prospect of owning a digital copy of Eidos’ new game for such a small price is sure to tempt many people to try the game out that perhaps hadn’t played Championship Manager since the Eidos/Sports Interactive split several years back.

Championship Manager is going to gain a lot of extra fans from this year, and Eidos will be hoping that the fans gained will be sticking with the series for many years to come.

Champions Online is hoping to provide an in-game Twitter system when it’s released, with the service currently being tested in beta.

An in-game Twitter service has recently been launched for World of Warcraft, and it’s surely only a matter of time before you’re able to tweet your mates whilst playing all your favourite MMORPG games. TweetCraft is the name of the in-game Twitter client for WoW, and it seems as though services of this sort are going to become increasingly more popular in the gaming world.

After the success of the Guitar Hero video game series; Activision is branching out, and a launch party was held on June 1st for its DJ Hero video game which is all set to hit the shelves later this year.

Eminem and Jay-Z closed the party in supreme style with their incredible MC ability, and such stars were in attendance as Leonardo DiCaprio, Ali Larter, Vanessa Minnillo, and even rock stars Mark Hoppus and Pete Wentz.

Travis Barker and DJ AM opened the show with their mixing, and Warren G was also there to please the crowds with his DJ skills. It was only right that the DJ Hero launch party should include such a fantastic selection of talented DJ stars, with DJ AM actually one of the DJs to have provided original mixes for DJ Hero, along with DJ Shadow, DJ Z-Trip, and Daft Punk.

Despite the quality bill of DJ talent; the best was most definitely saved till last at the DJ Hero launch party, and it was almost midnight by the time that Jay-Z and Eminem took to the stage to wow the celebrity masses.

Jay-Z was up first, and launched through a set which included such tracks as ’99 Problems’, ‘Encore’, ‘H To The Izzo’, and ‘My President is Black’, before combining forces with Eminem for ‘Renegade’. Eminem then bounced through a few tracks of his own from his new ‘Relapse’ album, closing the set with ‘Lose Yourself’ and well and truly getting the LA crowd on their feet.

It was a very successful night of entertainment for the launch of the new video game, and Activision was able to show off its new DJ Hero video game, complete with a fantastic line-up of talented musicians to lighten the mood and make sure that all in attendance enjoyed their evening.
